Bitter Roots
After Israel crossed the Red Sea, they came to
Marah. Marah was a the first place that had water
and Marah meant, Bitter. The water became bitter by
a root of a flower that had bitter roots and was
next to the water. God told Moses to throw a tree
into the water and it became sweet. Naomi had lost
her husband and her two sons also. She blamed God
and was bitter and said her name was Marah, which
means bitter. The Bible does not call her Marah, she
is still called Naomi.
When people face hard times or lose someone close to them, they blame God for their problems. When bitterness gets into our soul, we get farther away from God. We live in a fallen world, that is ruled by fallen angels. When things happen to us, it is because of our sinful nature, and the enemy that is coming against us. God does not give us the sinful things of this world. He did not create disease, or suffering. He did not put a disease on us, or anything that will hurt us. All He has for us are good things and good blessings. We are wrong when we blame God for the things that happen to us. We need to blame the right person when these things that happen to us, and that is the fallen angels (Demons). We need to give praise to our God and not blame Him, but ask Him for his help in what we are facing. We can come against our enemies, and they will flee from us. God loves us and will not leave us. We will give God all the glory that is due Him. ––––––––––––––––––––––––– New King James Version Exodus 15:23 Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people complained against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?" 25 So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them. And there He tested them, 26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you." New King James Version Ruth 1:20 But she said to them, "Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. New King James Version Psalms 64:2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, 3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows--bitter words, New King James Version Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. New King James Version Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; 16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears. |
