A Word About Life and Things
Stand Still

There is something that is built into every man on
earth. We want to solve problems. We are constantly
running into problems that have to be solved one way
or another. Men love to solve problems. Women are a
little different about problems. They will come to
us, to vent about a problem they are having. While
they are telling us about the problem, we are
thinking how to fix it. Most of the time the woman
just wants someone to listen to her, or a shoulder
to cry on. They are not asking us to solve the
problem. Men cannot stand to having a problem that
they cannot solve. They will look high and low and
sleep on it until they have figured it out.
There are times that there is not a way to figure out the answer to the problem. There are times that God will tell us to stand still and wait on Him. For guys that is very hard to do. We feel that we need to do something , anything to help God out. That is what Sarah wanted to do. God said that she and Abraham would have a child. After 13 years nothing was happening. So she got the idea to help God. She gave Hana, her servant, to Abraham, and they had a child, Ishmael. But the only thing about that, he was not the promise child. We always want to help God out. But He does not need our help! He just asks us to stand still and let Him do want He wants to do, no matter how long it takes. Abraham had to wait 25 years. I have had some words from God, some of them have taken 30 years to come to past. What are we to do? We are to be patient. We turn everything over to God. He knows what he is doing. He has a set time for everything in our lives. If He said that He is going to do something, then He will do it. We put everything on a schedule, then we get upset when it does not happen. God will do what he said He would do. We need to wait for Him. Waiting means we are not impatient. We will trust that He will bring to pass what He said He will do. We stand still and wait for Him. There is not a way that we can get ahead of Him.
